Job Description

To support the Head of ICT and Digital and the Senior Network Manager with the maintenance and development of the Trust’s ICT networks and systems.

Providing assistance and advice to staff and students as required with the use of ICT. Maintaining and developing ICT resources. To oversee and implement the installation of new and existing software and hardware across the network. To support the development and maintenance of the schools website, wireless network and VLE. To maintain up to date knowledge, skills and understanding in order to provide good ICT technical support and training within the department. To set up equipment as required for assemblies / events / presentations etc. To also on occasion attend evening events to set up equipment.

Job Roles

-GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent in IT, Maths & English -Suitable IT qualification -Previous experience of working within the education sector

  • Professional Experience and Knowledge
  • Experience in an IT technician role
  • Experience working in a school/academy or Trust
  • Demonstrably good IT skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Microsoft 365
  • Technically competent (Network, Office 365, Share Point etc)
  • Up to date knowledge of IT standards/protocols, and legislation including GDPR
  • Understands and demonstrates the importance of confidentiality and discretion
  • Experience of managing priorities in a pressurised environment whilst meeting agreed deadlines/timescales
  • Experience of building and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Has an understanding and knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Job Responsibilities
  • Network Maintenance: Provide support for the school servers and associated routines, including responsibility for administering back-ups.
  • Provide hardware and software support for PCs.
  • Maintain all peripherals within the school.
  • Software Installation: Install new and upgraded software on PCs.
  • Install, configure and maintain anti-virus software across the network.
  • Install all peripherals within the school.
  • Configure and maintain software applications for consistent use.
  • Administer email and user group accounts.
  • Ensure security maintenance.
  • Website development and maintenance, as required: Design and upload pages and information to the website.
  • Remove out of date material.
  • Audit software (including licences, hardware, ICT usage and infrastructure) and ensure that appropriate records are maintained.
  • Maintenance or simple repair of IT equipment/apparatus where within the competence of the postholders or liaise with suppliers or companies for repairs.
  • Install software, evaluate new and existing software.
  • Provide ‘on call’ system to resolve curriculum-based faults and problems where possible.
  • Maintain and update asset register/stock of records for ICT equipment.
  • Issue ICT equipment.
  • PAT testing on ICT equipment.
  • Contribute to the design development and maintenance of specialist ICT resources (e.g. School website, Frog, VLE, and any other IT based school resources.
  • Ensure duties are carried out in a manner that complies with the requirements of statutory GDPR legislation and Trust GDPR policies.
